The New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) will present pitch sessions of selected startups. The session consists of moderator Takeshi Yoshida, Director General of NEDO Innovation Promotion Department, appearing at the Tokyo venue along with three startups Taizo Otsuka, CEO of Kakaxi Co., Ltd., also appearing in Tokyo. Yoshiaki Ieda, CCO of Cinnamon Co., Ltd., broadcasts from Austin, and Representative Director of Eyes JAPAN Co., Ltd., Jun Yamadera, makes his remote appearance from Fukushima.
First, Takeshi introduces NEDO's mission and past achievements. Following this introduction, Yoshiaki explains how Cinnamon AI helps to improve the workflow of any industries by providing an AI platform that can convert unstructured data—from emails, graphical images, voice data to video data—into a usable data format. Taizo explains a way to make food traceability transparent with Kakaxi’s specially developed camera that runs on solar power and remotely monitors various atmospherics such as temperature, humidity, solar radiation and precipitation. Jun indicated that his motivation to provide a sustainable public infrastructure came after the Great East Japan Earthquake and the resulting brainchild was FUKUSHIMA Wheel, a share cycle equipped with a small sensor that can measure data such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, radiation, noise and PM2.5 every 5 seconds.
